Final Response

I have to admit that I ended up enjoying this course, after making the effort to sit down and get stuck in. It was more productive and resourceful than I originally gave it credit for. The only thing that really frustrated me was the blogging, but I will be addressing this in more depth within Staff Development days at school. Thanks for the opportunity.

Module 10

I have never promoted the use of Wikis within the classroom bacause of the fact that anybody can edit them and information may not necessarily be right. However sighting the 'Wikis in Plain English' have a better understanding and can see the potential for some great lessons implementing the use of this tool. I still think it is important to inform the student that if they are using a Wiki for their assessments that they need to double check that this is authentic information.

  • What role do you see for using Web 2.0 tools in your own life as a learner and a member of online communities?
For me this course has been both great revision and resource for learning new knowledge and skills. Although I have already been implementing many of these tools within my teaching for years, I will now be implementing them more effectively and starting to use others. As for the online comunities, I have found these to be very interesting and will endeavour to take the time and explore them more deeply.
  • How can Web 2.0 assist in improving learning outcomes for all students?
Web 2.0 allows the teacher to visualise and then implement a larger variety of learning activites that cater more for the individual. The tools presented within this course allow for all levels of learning both individually and as a whole class and for the opportunity of peer  mentoring and evaluation of the educational process. It presents the ability for all student to succeed, achieving obtainable marks from having fun across all key learning areas therefore improving learning outcomes for all students with the integration of ICT.

Module 9

Scootle is an AWESOME website especially for interactive websites for the students to use and learn skills implemented within the everyday routine. It's bright, colourful and easy to use.
Second life is a fabulous way for those students who enjoy computers and virtual reality where they are actually learning while 'playing' and enjoying their learning at the same time. This form of education is great for individual and whole class learning promoting conversation and decision making processes, both formal and informal.
As for the use of Facebook and Twitter within the educational setting there needs to be strict protocol for it's implementation, we don't need anymore mediums used for bullying and degradation of others.
LinkedIn looks to be an effective professional website where people can receive advice and educated response to their ideas or problems experienced in the workplace. It's great to be able to get feedback from those within your profession and also those who have an interest, another persons opinion is always valued, positive or negative as constructive criticism.

Module 8

Another effective way of keeping and sharing websites withing the schooling environment. This will illeviate having to make up emails to share great websites found for specific subjects. They can be stored in folders labelled for each subject and easily shared from there, it's just having the opportunity to set it up so that you are able to add to it without to much effort.  :-)

Module 7

Wow, Delicious is awesome, what a great way for professionals to share interactive websites for classes or ideas for projects. This is even a great way for the students to become involved in their own learning and share within the learning environment. This will also save space on the address toobar and favourites, having all you websites grouped and listed ready for use as soon as you open the site. This combined with some of the other sites such as google docs can help to minimise the paper trail and alleviate passing of paper back and forward.

Module 6

I have an interest in photography away from school and I believe will have lots of fun with this when I have some spare time(Ha, Ha). In relation to the school environment this could be useful in modifying and gathering photos for the school magazine - providing a more creative spin on an artistic presentation.
Although we are all the same we are also different - Find the human face.

Module 5

Now this is something I have already used. Prezi is an awesome resource but tends to us up the internet budget very quickly, so iI would not recommend that you encourage your students to implement this within their presentation format usless you prepay some money onto their budget.
Bubbl.us looks great and is something that is of a more formal brainstorm and something that has the ability for the students to work on in small groups and then share for others to add to.
This is a great module exposing those teachers who are settled with teaching from a text book to a new way of teaching and sharing their knowledge with the students.

Module 4

Ok, I relly enjoyed this module as I enjoy planning my lessons on the interactive whiteboard and this tend to lend towards this style of presentation. Teacher TV is a great site to inform other teachers as to how to keep ch'n engaged across all KLAs. You tube is a precious resource and one that I know that many teachers including myself have implemented the use of within their lessons. It can be used for all subjects and an effective way of interconnecting subjects.

Module 3

Wow I actually enjoyed that and the possiblities to use between staff and within the classroom are endless. The google doc is a great way of minimising a paper trail and can be an effective tool used for the senior years and the drafting process with their assessments as long as changes can be tracked, but I will have to look into this in more depth when I have time(Ha, Ha)
